SERENADE OF THE SETTING SKY (# 211) I just wrapped up a new pastel piece called “Serenade of the Setting Sky,” and it’s basically my love letter to sunsets that can’t decide if they want to be fiery or soft. It’s this little 12 by 9-inch scene where the sky does a slow dance from bold orange to gentle pink and then tiptoes into pale purple, like it’s putting on a show just for you. Down below, there’s a green field with trees playing along the edges, and a winding road that’s soaking up all those sunset colors in puddles—because even roads want to join the party. Working with soft pastels here felt like coaxing the colors to whisper their secrets and then letting them sing together. It’s calm, it’s cozy, and it’s full of those quiet moments you almost miss if you blink too fast.
