Just finished “LEAF ON DARK WATER-3 (#217),” another quiet little conversation with an autumn leaf soaking in the spotlight—this time with a few more wrinkles and stories to tell. There’s something fun about playing with the way light and shadow bounce off those curled edges and the calm water below, doubling the leaf’s presence like it’s got a secret twin. Working with soft pastels let me really lean into those warm browns and yellows, letting the textures do their thing. It’s like nature paused for a moment, inviting me to notice the simple, aging beauty that most of us just walk past. Sometimes the smallest things make the biggest splash.
